Performance Testing Considerations – Getting Started

In addition to security testing, it seems that performance testing has come to the forefront of requests from out clients. As we now go beyond basic 'it works' functionality, clients are not worried about taking it to the next level. They've come to realize that performance has become more important as expectations continue to increase from their end users. Whereas 3-4 seconds used to be 'good enough', now users expect 1-2 seconds response time and even less for frequent usage scenarios. One of our clients recently told us that they had 10000 users and they wanted to simulate all users logging in simultaneously. After convincing them that this scenario was highly unlikely, I decided to put together a list of performance testing considerations.

Improve Mobile Web Performance Webinar

Improve Mobile Web Performance – Webinar with Mark Tomlinson and Philip Lew

Figuring out how to diagnose and improve mobile web performance is critical as customers don’t want to be slowed down. Performance comes down to milliseconds which heavily increase or decrease sales. Because of this, organizations need to constantly optimize their mobile applications based on a changing context of network and hardware paradigms.

In this webinar, Mark Tomlinson, one of the industry’s leading experts in performance testing and tuning, gives tips and techniques for improving mobile web performance in a live discussion with wowubuntu’s CEO, Philip Lew.

Watch Out For These Mistakes When Doing Performance Testing

What Are The Top 5 Sources of Software Performance Issues

Software performance problems are difficult to find, understand and therefore fix because of today’s software complexity. Not only do we have to think about the software itself, but all of the other integrated components (hardware, software, database) and third party modules.

In this blog, we discuss five common sources of software performance problems. As part of the discussion, we hope to convey some of our experience in finding and solving them as you learn some mistakes to avoid along the way.
